Try this. Get some thin double sided tape at Home Depot or Lowes. Cut a bunch of one inch tall strips.
Starting at the beginning of the split, and very carefully, lift up the top section of the wrap, and stick a piece of tape underneath. Then lift up the bottom piece of wrap and stick the rest of the tape piece underneath.
Press down so the other side of the tape sticks to the shell.
Keep doing this, say every two inches along the wrap.
You should end up up with the crack securely tight against the shell and showing as little as possible. And....your repair is complely removable in the future.
One final thing.....because there is now tape every two inches or so along the crack, if you like, you can cut slivers of the same color wrap (if you can get a smal waste piece) and place them in between the edges of the splits.
This may or not be needed, depending on how much space there is between the edges. And again, this is easily removable later if you want.
Hope this helps!

Thanks very much for the repair ideas on this split Retro. There isn`t any separation/lifting of wrap from the shell on either side of the split so i couldn`t wedge anything in there if i tried..Seems to be very tight and solid along the split seams,so i`m likely better off to 'Leave It Be'.Thanks again for your input here Retro-much appreciated.
