I like the ol' cardboard drums!!!! Don't let the word "cardboard" scare you!!!

You got a pretty cozy good deal, mate!!!!

I used to have a kit. Was happy with them. They had some weird instant snap off lugs which facilitated quick head changes!

You lucky dog! Very versatile kit... Had mine over 20 years until they burned in a fire where we practiced. Incredible price. If you run across more... Post here!

5/16 ths inch thick shells...hence the 516 designation. Dual 45 degree bearing edges. Composite wood material tunable to maple or birch ranges. Almost indestructible shells. Mine sat in a flooded basement for hours with no damage to bass ply integrity. The gold crown series isn't even as thick.... Maybe the bass still is. They are seriously under-rated drums. Don't tune them too low, even though they resonate like crazy... Put some tension top and bottom and they sing. Head choices make them sound infinitely different. I liked a coated emp top with coated amb bottom.

The cheaper se version (silver triangle badges and/or brown shell) were thinner (3/16 ths inch) and bearing edges prone to dulling over time. The 516s did not have that problem.

I am looking for another set...can't find them on eBay... If you ever sell them...I'll buy them!

Their ball/socket mounting post was horrible... Resin ball gets eaten away over time and no other hex arm fits the mount well. Don't crank the wing nut...it holds when snug.

I have just recovered a kit and the lugs are identical to mine. I picked mine up for $100.00 dollars a couple of years ago and they sat in my garage till last month when I decided to clean the chrome, put new skins and heads on and try playing them once in a while. They have the same strip decal inside that says REMO 516 Acousticon and I don't really know anything else about them. Master Touch is the model and 1993/4 is the year on these you figured?

The kick drum sounds amazing and I'm not happy with the toms yet. I'm running a Ludwig Sensaphonic on this kit and I'm sooo in love with the kick drum!

I would appreciate whatever other info you might have on these drums!

Cheers,
