Today, i checked out a student ludwig set that was advertised in our local
newspaper. The lady wanted $50.00. I went over and looked at it. It turned
out to be a Ludwig black/white badge 4 1/2" snare that had a metal shell
with a sprayed black coating with some glitter added. Not really vintage.
A week ago in the local paper does an insert with photos of area people
celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, memorials to their deceased loved ones.
I noticed a picture of a man playing his drum set. Upon further inspection,
the drums were Round Badge Gretsch, 4-pc set. The guy had died 3
years ago in January. A couple of days later, I called his wife to see if she
still had his drums. She said that she did. I asked her the color of the drums
and she told me they were silver. (silver sparkle). She said she wasn't
ready to sell them yet, but might in the future. Turns out the guy was more
of a guitar played than a drummer. (hopefully good for me). I asked her if
I could call her in the future about the drums and she said it was OK to do
so. Any of you fellow drum lovers care to guess what these might be
worth?? She asked me what they might be worth, and I told her I'd have
to see them in person to evaluate them. She told me a friend who develope
d arthritus in his knees gave the drums to her husband. I hope to call her
later in the summer to see this drum set. I have to keep telling myself to be
patient about this. Any feedback would be helpful. thanks.
