Just to be clear, this not mine, nor do I know this person, but she certainly is delusional...
This Is A Rare Hard To Find Ludwig Standard Gold Strata Shell Snare Drum
It Is All Original.
It has a gold, black and grey color woodgrain look to it.
Serial No. 33243, but is not dated, which is not uncommon for Ludwig.
Made in 1968 or 1969
The Jazz Festival
It measures 14" x 5" (5 1/2 if you count the edge of the rim.)
It has a P83 Strainer which was only made from 1955 to 1969
I has 8 lugs, all in working condition.
It has an EVANS head, and needs a lower head
It has the original Ludwig Snare on the bottom, which is in fine condition outside of the bottom head being broken.
The shell is in perfect condition, without any fading, nor lifting, nor scratches.
There are some light scratches and marks, and some light pitting in the chrome.
This snare has only had one owner, and has been stored for many years.
The Standards were made with the same 3 ply classic drum shell as the most
expensive sets, which kept their same sound as the most expensive sets while
Ludwig tried to create a less costly drum to compete with other less costly
drums coming into the drum market. They did this by utilizing a new lug design,
and a lighter weight hardware design. However, they used the same shells, edges
and hoops. The Standards were also made in the same Chicago factory as the other lines.
For this reason, they are becoming more collectible.
