The rapid strainer on my 70's slingerland is still working great but the rubber washer is starting to dry out and crack a little. Is there anything at all that I can do to preserve it and keep it from drying out any further? Thanks!
Rapid Strainer rubber washer drying out Last viewed: 7 hours ago
I think Home Despot and Lowes would have a black rubber washer that would work,if you are in the States.........
You can't take it off, or get one on without cutting it.
Which is OK if you really have to do it I guess.
There's a dad gum skinny metal washer looking thing attached to the adjustment screw just below where the rubber washer is that's not removable.
Yeah,forgot to say...
you WILL need to put a THIN slice in the washer to get it on,but shouldn't pose any problems...........

Yepper, brother......
Thanks for the info... The washer is still working and not totally shot yet. I wanted to try and preserve it with something but I hesitate treating it with anything until I know what is safe to use in order to keep it from drying out.
