"Car in a barn'! Rogers Swivomatic pedal

A while back I was custodian of a Slingerland Buddy Rich kit. BIG honkin' drum set!!

So I got involved with Rogers Swivomatic pedals and hi-hats. I restored some, built some, acquired 'orphan' parts from eBay -- my usual compulsive self when it comes to drum stuff. (you feel me, right??)

Rummaging around in the basement, I found a box of parts, and believe it or not, rustled up enough pieces to build a Swivomatic one-piece pedal--the 'longboard'!

I didn't do any cosmetic stuff, 'cuz I just wanted to see if it could be done. What a hoot! What a unique feel!

Speed King? Yellowjacket? Rogers?

An embarrassment of riches.

Ben, I'm playing a straight board Yellowjacket right now and I love the pedal. Do you know what years Slingerland made those?

John-- I didn't know there was such a thing as the Yellowjacket longboard! I'll bet that's a blast to play. They really are smooth..

I'm not sure of the dates --70's? Were the yellow paint ones the first edition? Mine's black and silver .... I'll nose around in the catalogue section

Checked out the catalogue link. The Yellowjacket first appeared in 1979. By 1990, they were gone. The ones in the 1990 catalogue look, um, awkward.

To add: the design and construction of the Swivomatic is amazing. High quality chrome on good steel, needle bearings, solid hardware. If they were made today, the price would be crazy. Man. It was a different world.

Mine is black and silver too. The pedal came with -two- interchangeable footboards. The straight board and a regular pedal with a heel plate. It's a silky, smooth pedal with great balance. I just tap it and she goes.
