questions about cleaning up old snare drum Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I am trying to clean up an old snare drum that was my brothers. It has some rust on it and I was not sure how to get it off. I looked online and found some stuff called Envio-Safe rust remover the website is www.rust911.com it sounds pretty good and seems fairly priced has anyone ever used it before?

howdy, we need some more details on the drum before we can point you in the right directions.

Is it chrome, nickle, chrome over wood, chrome over brass?

They all clean differently and depending on the make can also be cleaned differently.

I've never used the cleaner you mention so I cant honestly give my two cents on it.

Soak the rusty rims/parts in a dilute bath of Dawn dishwash detergent and warm water overnight. Polish with something like Simichrome or Nev-R-Dull and you'll be good to go.

Purdie has given you some solid advice. The only thing i would add is that you should NOT use steel wool.

I wasn't a believer of the Dawn soap until I tried it myself. The stuff works wonders.
