Hey Folks,
Newbie here, but when I found this forum I had to grab some pictures of my snare and see what the story was on this one. My dad got this snare and it is apparently a '57. That's about as much as I knew for the longest time. My dad played it from childhood and while he toured with a country/southern rock group called "The Pilgrims". When I started playing drums his snare and red sparkle Ludwig rockers were passed to me and I have been playing with this snare ever since. Pretty much everyone that plays it claims its the smoothest and deepest snare they've every played, and I would probably agree. From the 1957 catalog it seems to match the symphonic and it is in great playing shape, though the chrome doesn't shine as much. Does anyone know if this is a 1957 symphonic snare? Any ideas of how and if I should restore it (polish the chrome)? Does anyone have any idea of how much it is currently worth? Any details would be appreciated. One day I would like to have it looking sharp and back in my dad's set. Thanks for all the help. Picture's are attached as best I know how.
