PROPER Speed-King at last!!! Last viewed: 17 hours ago

Loading...

Finally,

Much easier to play, physics at work I assume. More power, just better...

This one is in great shape, claimed to be one owner from the seller. For those late to my epic, three month journey , I discovered too late that there are TWO variants of Speed-Kings. Note my image that shows the "tabs" that space the pedal from the beater skin on the BD.

Paid $65 including shipping, but I will sell my WFL to offset that a bit.

Paint is great, beater seems to be original, it's whiter than it appears in photos.

AND, yup, this one SQUEAKS. I was under the impression that it came from the pin at the base of the pedal hinge, but I think mine might be doing it from the "direct drive" thingy (Sorry)?

AND, YES, I hit myself in the head with the beater trying to move my ear around the pedal to find the squeak.

Thanks for following along.

PS - Do you guys think the little oblong washer and regular screw for the flip-plate are original? I have never seen one before.

SIDENOTE:

The direct link thing is VERY slightly touching my EMAD muting ring. I doubt it's an issue, but just wanted to get that info out there. Really its where the link meets the pedal.

Thanks! You and everyone here have been very kind. Nice to put the Speedking saga behind me, now I can just read up on squeak remediation which I guess would be the NORMAL Speedking saga. :)

Thanks for the pics, and welcome.

Just a heads up, I got a notice from a moderator here that this doesn't like it when people host their images elsewhere and then link out (like you and I just did).

Just a heads up.

OK, it's just a habit of mine since it's the only way to post pics on the Corvette forum.

I am with you, habit from other forums. Vintage Mustang's myself (65 4 speed), although I love Vette's too.

I have two speed kings. A dab of Vasoline on the metal to metal parts will silence the squeek King.
