It doesn't look like there is any wrap on the kick... just spraypainted over the old finish or something.... (see photos)

Are you talking about the kick drum now ?

No, the BD is clearly Mahogany or Walnut under the paint. Do the wrap on the toms, See if it`s a Slingy wrap .

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Aaaah... yes. I will try that. But how do I see if it's a slingy wrap ? - What should or should not happen ?

There are charts on this site that show all Slingerland wraps and finishes. If there were more, we probably talked about them here too. Pretty easy stuff for a lot of guys here.

Ning, I`d like to see what`s under that exterior paint. Take a face cloth and dip it into boiling water and place it on the wrap. Fold it so it holds the heat. After about five minutes or so, remove it and try to rub off the paint with the scrub part of a kitchen sponge or plastic card edge. See if that works.

Hi... Nothing happened. A few light scratches from the scrub part of the sponge. Still white. Just a little more matte on that part.

Ok so you got lacquer based, try some nail polish remover in a spot, but not a lot, do carefully, that remover ruins wrap too.

Or lubricated, then steel wool and elbow grease.

You're gonna need something stronger, I'm afraid. If it's paint over a plastic finish you can use a citrus-based paint stripper. I've never used them but I hear they work well and won't kill your brain cells like methylene chloride or acetone. If not, you'll have to go the solvent route.

I tried acetone and it just got a little whiter and more matte. Then I started workin the wrap with a drill sander and sanded throug the surface of the wrap... still no other colour.

I will just remove the wrap and see what the drum looks like under the wrap :D
