With the burgundy on Gold Badge, it sounds to me like the MLX series forthe drums with the long lugs. I suspect those drums do not have reinforcement rings and are not MMX series which had 4 ply shells with Re-rings.

If they are MLX or MMX they are fine drums regardless, they just have different shell layups. The Maple Custom badged drum may/not have re-rings, as I do not recall how Pearl differentiated the badges on drums with re-rings, if they did at all. I'm thinking that they did not in later years, at least.

Please post pics when you get it.

Thanks.

Wow guys thanks for all the feedback - great stuff I only paid £300 GBP which is a steal really I just wanna know what I am buying for sure? The guy says this: "Hi mate finish is piano black, 236453 is custom serial circa 94 , MMX burgundy on gold badge pre serial original fatory series full tom lug i know pearl like the back of my hand and would put them at 87-88 it was before they started lining them with **** birch mahog mix. they stopped using pure maple on MMX in 99 when they actualy started calling the range MMX, and dropped the standard of the wood, look for burgundy on gold badge no MMX name but a light shell with darker laquer or same year costoms, and maple session elite all match perfect".one of the shells is quoted as a maple custom and 3 are mmx as above

OK they have arrived and they are a mixed bag really. I have two early pearl toms 8" and 10" piano black all maple shells burgundy on gold label. The shells seem good quality and have polished up well although slightly tarnished with age. Anyone tell me what these toms are worth?

The other toms are x1 maple custom 12" and a random unbadged tom with pearl lugs - not sure what it is. The bass is a 22" x16" All maple shell same as the 8 and 10" toms same label. The rack is a DR80 rack with x9 clamps. I am going to sell this lot on I think as I have decided to just go buy a full new kit instead of getting into a project for months. Any ideas or websites that could help me with the description of these toms? Can anyone give me any history on these?

Thanks guys.

Pictures would be helpful. I would also go to www.pearldrummersforum.com and post good pictures on there -- The Vintage section on there would be the place to post.
