Picked up a late 70's Slingerland Kit For $75.00 on Craigslist!t Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Totally strange right? Well I am thinking this was a larger kit like a Rock Jazz Blues Outfit at some point and then got broken down. Tough one to figure out. I may actually remove the wrap and go natural to get the 13, 18, and 24 to match. Anyone know if the wood underneath these old 5 ply's look good. The interiors of this drums are some of the nicest I have ever seen.

Decided to toast the white wrap! Yellow was not budging from the kick, The seams were lifting and I kinda hated the plastic white wrap anyhow.

I was excited to see they all had Mahogany on the exterior ply though. I refinished a Leedy snare that was Mahogany and it came out looking really sharpe. Here they are stripped and ready for phase 2!

Can't wait to see how these turn out. Are you going to convert the kick back to virgin?

I wasn't going to but I guess I could. I have a bunch of dowels laying around. Might be a glaring repair though unless I can find some Mahogany dowels since I am just going to naturally finish em.

I can send you some small blocks of mahogany if you need some to make your dowels. My son always has extra cut offs from guitar bodys.

Thanks FFR428! I may have to take you up on that! I am just not sure yet whether to take it back to a Virgin kick or not. Need to see how the rack tom works on a snare stand over that monster kick. I usually play with the rack tom on a snare stand but I am not sure how it will work with these size drums!
