pedal tuned remo roto toms Last viewed: 46 minutes ago

Can anyone tell me what year(s) the pedal tuned remo roto toms were produced? Who used them? Are they collectible? I think Phil collins used these (Wind and Wuthering?) and Vinnie Colaiuta (Joe's Garage?). I know about Louis Bellson and Terry Bozzio as well. Again Please limit answers and discussion to pedal tuned remo roto toms.

I have found this page from the 1981 catalog. I would think they were produced before 1981 as well. anyone?

Here's the patent info on it. Doesn't look like it was exploited. That may be why locating specifics are a bit of a conundrum.

p.s. I had those half shell reflectors back in the day. Sucked big time. Didn't do much for the roto's. I had a run of 6,8,10,12,14,16,18. Thought the shells might help. Nojoy.

The catalog page came from one of my web sites. Click Here

that will take you to the Remo catalog timeline for more research.

The exact years are not know for production. Impossible to know.

If they made 100 and never sold them or they took 8 years to sell out. Those types of numbers are hard to know.

The catalog timeline will help and if you click on each image you will get the complete catalog and a good time frame.

Yes they are rare and pricey if you find one.

There is also a roto tom tightener article on that web site which gives some idea based on the arm used to tighten the roto to the stand as to the year of the roto tom itself.

I have done a lot of research on the rotos and also recently talked to Al Payson about them for the history article on that site as well.
