Pearl World Series shells Last viewed: 21 hours ago

I've got too many!

Been trying to clear out some of my japanese drums.

1987 Pearl World Series shells, covered in blue satin flame. I only used double faced tape so it could be easily removed. I was intending on staining the set but I never have time and space is always an issue. This was a project/leave at the rehearsal space drumset.

10x10 10x12 toms, 14x14 16x16 floor toms, 16x22 bass 3x13 steel snare.

The chrome is not great but I never really devoted any time to this set as far as restoration. Comes with one set of legs for either of the floor toms, and one tom holder. No extra holes the shells are actually really nice looking underneath. Interiors have a clear gloss inside. Pinstripes on top and ambassadors on the bottom, I replaced all the heads except the snare side.

I think I've seen you playing these on YouTube correct? I have a WX series kit from the same era.

Yes, I'm actually thinking of recovering the set again, and using it as a gigging kit. These drums are so punchy, I really like the way they sound.

I agree! These drums are overlooked sometimes, and the 80s sized power toms are out of favor right now, but they can sound great. I have a jet black set that I was looking for matching drums to add on, but just decided to let 'em go because I found another kit with the sizes I wanted but in a different color. PS I once had a Yamaha Turbo Tour similar to your kit but mine was blue. A musician friend of mine once told me that at the time it was the best sounding of all my drum kits, and he had heard me play Ludwigs, Slingerlands, Pearls, and even Gretsch.

I will never let my turbo tours go, I recently saw a picture online of the metal band DeathAngel and they were using mellow yellow turbo tour toms in the studio.

Japanese birch and mahogany is where it's at.

Poplar and mahogany for american drums.

I played these drums today as a four piece. Nice low end. If nobody wants them they are still nice to have in the arsenal.
