Original skins on old Rogers kit Last viewed: 2 days ago

Hey guys, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to vintage drums so I thought I would ask you this...

I bought a 1973 Rogers Starlighter IV kit a few months ago. Sounds brilliant and is in absolutely pristine condition, I'm only the third owner. It still has the original rogers resonant skins on the toms. they tune very well but should I change them? obviously they are gonna be 40 years old next year, but are they contributing to the great vintage sound or are new ones gonna sound better?

thanks

F't'were me, I'd leave em. Reso heads, (no real wear and tear) and if they sound good, why go to the extra expense? Personally I like to have original resos, just change the batters.

I use original heads in good shape all the time. No reason to change them...

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

All that matters is if you're happy with the performance and the sound of the drums.

Photos would be great. I'd keep em on.
