Old Ludwig snare dating/worth??

Loading...

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I figured this would be a good place to find the date on this snare. I got it from a friend thinking it was a really old supraphonic thing, but I did some research and it looks even older (20s-40s). I'd like to know when it's from?

Is it the rare 1944 invisible drum?

Here's the pics. And I wish! The upload thingy wasn't working on my phone, switched to computer so we're all good now.

Looks like a late 1920's drum. They're desirable in that depth, they didn't make as many as other sizes. It's referred to as a Standard but I'm not sure if that's the actual model name.

Take a look at some of the old catalogs to learn a bit about your drum. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/ludwig_snare_drum_catalog_pages.html

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72
