Oaklawn Camco Studio Snare Drum

Loading...

Hi All,

I've been waiting for this one to arrive like a kid at X-mas, it's here! I'll let the photos do all the talking. The drum is gorgeous, (red glass glitter) and it sounds absolutely killer. A keeper for sure...

60's Oaklawn, Camco 'Studio' model snare drum. Cherry condition! I got real lucky with this one.

Enjoy,

John

PS - Steve, what do you think of my little find? :o

Thank you guys... she's a sweet one alright. I'll probably cannibalize the hybrid I put together so I can recoup some of the $ I invested in this one. Sometimes you have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

The new Camco drum is now sitting behind my kit...

John, very nice drum. It's a bit unusual as it has a tone control. Most Studio Models did not have tone controls. The Orchestra Tuxedo Model offered the tone control but it also featured the Aristocrat strainer which yours clearly does not.

I was thinking the same thing concerning the internal muffler about my Tuxedo lug 60's Camco snare drum. The hoops are unoriginal parts on this drum. These generic looking hoops give the tension rods a bit of splay. But, this drum sings beautifully just as it is.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
