Oaklawn Camco Floor Tom Puzzle Last viewed: 1 day ago

I'm lost here and need some help. I was about to purchase a set of floor tom leg brackets for my new Camco addition when I realized the hole spacing on the drum will not accept a Camco bracket! When I purchased the drums, they had Ludwig Standard legs and brackets installed. It doesn't appear another bracket has ever been on the drum. I have no doubt the shell itself is 100% Camco but why would the drum be (seemingly) factory drilled for a non-Camco bracket with no extra holes or indentions from a different bracket? Can anyone shed some light?

The last picture is the floor tom in the back ground and the matching tom tom in the foreground. The tom tom is drilled for and has the correct Camco bracket installed. It has indentions in the shell from the large washers. The floor tom has no such indentions.

The Ludwig mounts on your floor tom were the only mounts to have ever been on that kit. Camco's could be ordered with no floor tom, bass drum or tom brackets so one could install the brackets of their choice. Stores that were Camco dealers also ordered them like this so the customer could choose the hardware of their choice & have it installed at the store. It is common to find Camco's with other companies brackets & mounts on them with no other extra holes (especially Camco's with Rogers hardware).

It's the first time I see a Camco floor tom with Ludwig Standard brackets and legs but the shell was clearly never drilled for something else,.... Also the tom mount is very uncommon. Bass drums with a rail-consolette normally came with the diamond plate mounts.

Truly a one of a kind kit.

Enjoy them as they are !

You can swap the Ludwig standard brackets for regular Ludwigs if you like those better since they used the same hole spacing.

Thanks for the help! Learn something new everyday. I think I'll leave them as they are. I don't mind the standard brackets if I can't have Camco! I'll be cleaning and assembling this week. I'll post some pictures as I go.

Yep, one of those Camco quirks - embrace it.
