Hello all. Haven't posted in a while. Just wanted to show off my new wmp ludwig jazz festival snare. Serial number puts it in 1965. White painted interior with the baseball bat muffler. Drum is in very nice shape. Snare wires are not original and the drum has all chrome hardware except it has nickle hoops. I bought it to match some wmp ludwigs I got a year ago. Price was right and the seller was a kindly old drummer. We sat and talked for an hour or so. 295 cash. I didn't even argue about the price. It's still far below retail. So I pulled the trigger. Got a nice old what I think is a 50s avedis as well. But that's another post. Be well, Ryan
Now I have two! Last viewed: 5 days ago

I`m trying to make out the damper knob,...is that just the way it came out in the pic, or is all F`d up like it looks in the pic ?

No. The damper knob is fine. Just a weird angle. Man I wish I could sell you the blue one but I bought that when I was 14. In a box in prices at a yard sale for ten bucks. Played hundreds of shows with it. Most of which I didn't have a case for it even. Needless to say it's with me for life. Everyone should have a jazzfest
Nice drums John. I don't have a Jazz fest , but it is the drum I am looking to be the next to add to my modest collection of `60s American snares.
Most that I see are going for full retail because somebody will always pay top dollar for them.
Great snare,..I was always a cob dyna & wood Powertone myself...
Until I picked up a 1957 (8) Lug Buddy Rich Super Classic or jazz fest snare..
Great great snare...

Thanks for the props on the drum guys. I know what you mean about them demanding big money. So I decided to grab it before there are none left in my budget. I've always wanted a dynasonic but it seems that Rogers drums never cross my path. Attached is apic of what I believe is a 58 wfl Barret deems model. This drum had serious finish issues appeared to have been painted twice. Stripped and the. Stained and polyurethaned with a brush. When they didn't like that look I believe it was spray glued and wrapped. When the wrap was too tight for the heads they took it off but left the glue. My friend bought it for 150 all hardware is there and the shell is in very nice shape considering the paint issues. Well I stripped it 2 coats of primer 2 coats of spray enamel 800 grit between each coat and a 1500 final sand before polish. There it is. An affordable jazzfest.
You know, you're absolutely right. And that spells trouble for me :)
Good looking drum there, Ryan! And loving mine with the new finish!
Have to say I have a pink champagne that's very sweet and it's a keeper !

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
