Ok, it's not drum related but the name is. I doubt this is related to the original drum company but maybe someone here knows more. It's for sale here in NZ at the moment

Very cool. I agree that it's unlikely to be related to the Ludwig drum company.

About 10 years ago I aquired a Piano,it was a Ludwig made in around 1927,not by the ludwig drum company, the piano I had was made by Ludwig in New York city.Ludwig Drums did make Banjos,as a matter of fact that made Bud Slingerland so mad he decided to start making drums, interestingly enough one of the earliest solid body electric guitars was a slingerland Songster, main difference from the modern solid electric was that the pick up was located directly over the bridge.

Yes it's true Slingerland did make banjo's under "Mo Bell" or something like that name i had one year's ago and sold it to a friend...yes on Ludwig piano's they still show up on C/L sometime for Free...But a Ludwig guitar that's a new one to me,The guitar look's 60's to me and maybe M.I.J.? who know's...By the way i have just about every Ludwig catalog and i don't re-rall seeing any guitar's in them...Mikey

The name was "May Bell", they even made resonator guitars. Almost bought one a few years back, 194?, still kicking myself to this day!

Back in the old days Slingerland was making Ukelele's, Ludwig started making Uke's and Slingerland started making drums in retaliation. Slingerland made banjo's, banjuke's or ukejo's, guitars and lap steel guitars and Some Violins under another brand. If I were a betting man I would bet that was a Ludwig prototype of some kind. Any way that's the cliff notes version.
