New user asking help to ID about Pearl Whitehall? drums Last viewed: 1 day ago

Greetings All Vintage Drum Lovers. I need help from people that know (as I'm just a beginner drummer, (longtime musician). I just picked up this old and slightly beat up set for $500.00, with all the cymbals and hardware included. They sound GREAT! But, I don't know what they are! I had a very good and knowable drummer come out and help me set up and he started me on the life long philosophical and metaphysical path to tuning (thank goodness the snare that came with the set, a very cool DW stamped - dated 1985 with a big C!) and he said he thought the drums were "some kind of old custom" Pearls. I could find nothing on a Pearl set by the name of "Gospel Drums" on the net, but sure enough the drums (but for the snare) all have a "Gospel Drums" badge on them. I guess the badges can be custom made? Anyway, looks like someone in the past update some of the mounting Hardware on the toms, and of course there is a mixture of stands with this set with the high hat and bass drum pedal both newer (and good) units.

Help me out here! What are these? Anyone know?

Thanks!!!!!!!

Here's a few pics.

Hopefully, those who frequent the non-USA section will see your post. You might want to consider asking this same info over their. I will say that $500 for an MIJ kit seems a bit pricey. Let's see what other information you'll get.

Thanks for the quick reply... The cymbals with stands along with high hat stand and kick peddle alone are worth WAY more than $500.00. Plus, the snare is a DW from 1985. But, the kit seems okay for a beginner and sounds really cool...

For some reason I can't seem to up load pictures, I have contacted the administrator asking for help.... Something about a "Security Token"?

Once I can upload pictures I'll post on the Non-USA Section. I would be happy to email pics to anyone that thinks they can help...

Thanks again.

Just use the Search box on this forum "Whitehall" ... You will find several threads which should answer most of your questions...

Cheers

those cymbals and stands have to be really nice to bring up the cost of the kit as it only worth about 150 at that hope there zildjian's and some vintage ludwig stands other wise its just stands and hopefully not dishpan pies not sure about the c on dw snare but even at that its still high...

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks for the reply in helping me figure out what these drums are.

As I can't seem to get the attachment thing working I can't show you the kit by uploading pictures.

Yes, this set came with 4 Zildjian (2 of them rides, 1, crash and both hats) A Customs, 3 Sabins (2 are Studio's...) all stands and hardware as mentioned.

By the way... Just curious, what motivates you to state the drums are "only worth 150.00" if you don't know what they are? I say they might be "Whitehall" because I saw something close, one picture out of 100's I have looked at on the web. But, really, I honestly don't know.

I would gladly send you (and anyone that can help) an email with pics and maybe that could help in making more of an informed judgment.

Thanks.

About the "C"

The "C" is printed on the inside of the DW is a starter key for tuning... Of course, one can tune it however one would like. Saw this one ebay. It's just like mine.
