New gibraltar 6700 series single pedal any good ?

So i was watching Gibraltar's "Brent's hang" on their website because i was curious about their new 6711S model of double chain single pedals.. They claim that they're extremely light and fast and is a great workhorse pedal, (as does every other drum manufacturer of their own pedals ;))..Just curious if anyone has ever tried one out, and if so, how did it feel ? I know the best thing to do is to try one out in person, but i thought i'd get a heads up here first.. I currently use the DW 3000 and love it..Great work horse pedal, solid and smooth when well maintained.. I'm looking for the equivalent in a pedal that is lighter and hopefully faster as my right ankle that was fractured 10 years ago has been bothering sometimes during humid days and nights. Damn this aging thing ;)) I was also willing to try out something new, as well as have a good spare pedal that is slightly lighter than the 3000..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.. Click on the link to see the pedal in question..

A key to attach the pedal to the bass drum? I'm thinkin' no. If it were being used on a set that never got taken down, maybe. I see no features here that make it better than what you already own.

Teverson-- Thanks for the reply..Yeah, that drum key thing really bothered me.. Having to fumble for a drum key to tighten this pedal is ridiculous.. Even cheaper pedals don't have that.. And i just realized it costs almost as a DW 5000 !..What the heck's up with that ? LOL !.. Gibraltar has some great hardware, but their pedals are really awful and need a complete overhaul, just like Ludwig did with their hardware..

Guess i'm sticking to my 3000..Classic smooth and fast design that can't go wrong..

Years ago I bought a Gibraltar pedal and hi-hat stand. It was junk! I black-listed them at that time(that's just what I do when I get screwed).

I've played many shows over the years, and my DW stuff has never let me down! It's easily adjustable, bullet-proof, and just screams quality!

Trust me when I say, spend a few more dollars and be satisfied.Soap Box

I'm with you on Subway!

DW make everything you need for a BD pedal. Perfect. To me they're all brilliant.

Maybe get a Speedking. You can get refurbed vintage ones from Drumchanix. Or buy one from eBay and lube it up. Theres lots of info on them here. If you don't like move it on. Yamaha make nice basic pedals, as do pearl and tama.

Most of the Tama pedals built in the last 20 years are very good. And very cheap. The Iron Cobras have the same adjustments and stabilizer plate as the Gibraltar.

Seeing as how i love my DW 3000 and will never get rid of it, it just occurred to me that DW has their "flyweight" bass drum beater, which is the one with the red plastic side where the felt side would be, (i don't use the felt side anyway)

and has what i would describe as "air vents" underneath the beater, which would give it a lighter more fluid feel.. So problem solved.. I get to keep using my 3000, with a little less weight on it, and will now have a fast and lighter weight pedal to keep my ankle comfortable when it acts up ..

Cheers to all who were kind enough to give me their input.. ;)
