New board member, hey everyone. Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hi everyone,

My name is Frank, I live in Holland, and I just joined the forum.

The reason I got here is that I recently decided it was time to 'restore' the Ludwig kit I bought 28 years ago. I had bought another drum set, and the last 8 years it had been sitting in my friend's attic. Now my intention is to fix it up to a decent standard, good enough to take it on the road again.

I was under the presumption it was a Ludwig Rocker, but after visiting this website, I'm not sure what it is.I hope to find some info on my drum set, and maybe jump in on some good discussions.

Anyway, nice to meet you all.

Great to meet you Frank and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of wonderful and knowledgeable members here. Sometimes the conversations grt a little lively but they are all associated with a common passion so that makes it alright in my book!

Post some photos of your kit and I am certain several members will dive right in to help you out.

Thanks tnsquint,

I'll try to take some good pictures.

As I said, I thought I had A Ludwig Rocker, simply because it said so in the shop I bought it from. That was in the early 80's.

However, the kit has olive & blue labels, and serial numbers 200xxxx, which means it's not a Ludwig Rocker. The kit came in 22 x 13 x 14 x 16, and the shells are not made of wood, but some kind of 'synthetic' material. Unlike the Vistalite kits, mine is non-transparant, black.

At the time, I didn't really know what I was buying, I simply wanted a Ludwig set, and they weren't as common the way they are now. US drums were way too expensive in Europe those days, so most drummers bought Pearl and Tama drumkits. Right now I'm pretty curious what kind of kit I bought.

Hi Frank, Welcome to VDF!

Not made of wood? Weird! Please, post a couple of photos so we can check them out. If you have trouble posting photos, there are some good tutorials on You Tube that one of the moderators posted showing step by step how to do it. Just enter Vintage Drum Forum in the You Tube Search box and the videos will pop up.

Looking forward to seeing this kit.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
