I have a snare I plan on selling on e bay and I would like some help with the background so I know what to put in the description. Here is what I know.

Its badge says Corder Drum Co Huntsville Alabama 35805

it has all Fibes hardware. Chrome, 8 x 15" a monster snare. 12 lugs, wood shell, (I would like to know more about the wood) gut snares. dual muffler. looks to be all original, throw off work perfectly I paid $300 a few years ago, hoping to get close to that back. any info appreciated. I don't have pics yet, but will have soon.

Those were good drums. Probably were made of maple but can't say for certain. They were the post Fibes drums (pre-"current" Fibes) made in the 80s. A photo of the wood would help pinpoint the type. I have an old price list maybe it has some more info.

Possibly a chromed Jasper shell. I know he used those shells. Also in a thread a while back I stated something about the Corder drum company being in business in 1977 when I was working there, but it was called "Custom Clear Drum Co." then. I was wrong but kind of right. Was 34 years ago. Just before he purchased the Fibes tooling.

Jim Corder did indeed use Jasper shells. I was a Corder endorser for a short time in 1984/5 -

but I don't know their exact timeline. Sammy Darwin bought the name/tooling around the late '80s or so and offered the drums under Darwin Drum Co. I recall that there was also a brief run under the name All American Drum Co, although nobody but me seems to remember that! Around 1995, Tommy Robertson got the Fibes name and tooling, and after Jasper went out, also started making his own shells. Tommy has apparently got a new facility to revive Fibes again after they went off the radar maybe 5 years ago.

PS: That's a 26" kick, 14/16/18 toms. I didn't realize til years later that I had unknowingly ordered a Bonham-ish configuration!

It's nice to have old photos so we can visit our hair from time to time... even if only in memory. lol

Great publicity shot! Sorry, couldn't help the 'hair today, gone tomorrow' crack. :p

(I'm getting a little thin on top myself these days!DOH)

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Can't help with any info, but Don Corder owns a machine shop in Hazel Green Alabama (about 20 minutes from me) and still makes custom Tube Lugs for Vintage Drums. Here is his contact information, maybe he can give you some background.

Bermuda, I remember that promo shot. I was trying to get a endorsement set out of Mr. Corder back then too. I think you were his only endorsee. He did gift me some nice Camco shells I still have today. I am still useing the Fibes foot pedal I got from him. All his Son's were friends of mine too.

I could just kick myself for not having them make me a nice jazz set in a WMP, Green or Red sparkle with those great Jasper shells. Ohh welll.

I can't remember all the finishes they offered. I do have a 4 piece configured set of Jasper shells and they sound great. Fungus Amungus, I still wonder if I know you from Huntsville. I may contact Don for some tube lugs for a snare project.

There was definitely at least one other guy on their roster, I met and saw him play at Jim Corder's suggestion. Ron Humphrey, but I can't think of his group at the moment.
