Hi Does anyone have information on the "ALFRED FREISTAT CASE COMPANY"?

I know they were making cases for drums and musical instuments in the 1960-70's?

I have a really well made snare drum case in amazing condition from them that I would like to know more about

PHOTOS AVAILABLE

IT IS A "SUITCASE" STYLE HARD SHELL CASE WITH DIVIDER WALL FOR THE SNARE STAND.

THANKS!

Hi OB,

thanks for the response. Yes yours looks very close. Thanks for the contact info, I researched them on the web and it looks like they had a lot of Florida addresses but they are not around anymore??

Do you know anything about them?

I saw a Florida Corporate filing for 1968 for them.... so it is/was an old company

Any info appreciated! thanks

Well, A. Freistat invented and patented the form and divider in the snare drum hard case. Drum companies would order cases and he would build them by blow molding the shell and then fitting the proper forms and dividers for them.

That`s what was done at the Opa Locka location. It is now Starlift co (forklift) The headquarters location is now a retirement community. (homes) Google Earth street views.

It looks like his patent ran out and so did the business shortly after. He had other companies that did partitions and cabinets and other encasement things.

It looks like he enjoyed the fruits of his patent and then when that ran out concentrated on the others more. The president names changed as if he passed it on down to family. The last known entry for anything drum case related was 2006. I cant find anything further.

Yes you got me interested and with help from my kid, I was able to trace using the computer. I found Yamaha, CB, Remo, UMI, snare drum cases made by Friestat that are Identical to ours with their logo on them instead.

Ronald Friestat was the last President of the drum case company that I could find in 1996.

Kids are great with computers,...you should get a few.

I just saw an Acrolite with one for 139 dollars so apparently Ludwig used Freistat too. The case was molded Ludwig. It`s hard to tell, everyone throws them in with the price of the snare.
