Those are the generic CHEAP Asian made bongos with a hundred or more different stencil brand names. There are no replacement heads readily available for the odd ball sizes. Sorry to tell you that these are crap with cosmetic copies of Slingerland lugs. The red paint on the interiors is a give away as to what they are.

Hide heads? Not cheap but they'd fit.

Yes those are Japanese bongos and badly made. If you are looking for a good quality set of bongos I have quite a few that i am selling.

Here's an 8" MIJ I wrapped in WMP, Remo 8" head works perfectly. Drum sounds great.

As compared to GonBop or other high end bongos , no they are not in that league but you can still find heads for them. Probably more expensive than the drums. I have some Star bongos on eBay right now. They don't have any heads either. You need the heads where the collar goes below the edges, and the hoops too. You can still fix those up and they will be fun to mess around with and will look nice. I keep thinking someone who collects Star MIJ kits would want mine to wrap and match their kit.

Are you sure? Could they be model 303's as listed in the 1963 Slingerland catalog ( in drumarchive showing up on page 22) Perhaps?

I haev some that look pretty much the same. I bought mine from the window of a seconhand vinyl store last summer. I thought mine were Star....just because of the red paint. I read that somewhere. Yes, they are the 'cheaper' bongos but nice...and collectible I think...just the same.
