I have a couple toms that I cannot identify. The closest I have found is they may be from the Dreadnaught series but they are not white lacquer or bi-color. The small one is in much better shape and has an 11" head. The larger one has a damaged bottom head and it measures 14". Does anyone know anything about these, including value if any?
Need help identifying old Leedy wood rim toms Last viewed: 7 minutes ago
Those are Leedy Alliance drums. Made during WW 11 under the 10% law. During the war, any product manufactured that was considered non-essential could not consist of more than 10% in metal of the total weight. Thus the wooden hoops and lug casings. These were the models: Leedy Alliance, Ludwig Victory Drums, Slingerland Rolling Bombers, WFL Victorious Drums, Gretsch Bombers.
Definately think`n Dreadnaught series 38/mid 40`s badge with the cursive L. the color looks to have been removed with one of the re-finnishing jobs.
The Timbales are in two`s, your missing one.
Some Dreadnaughts to compare

Dreadnought was a WWI Battleship !i

Maybe it`s not part of a timbales pair, the head blended with the carpet but it looks very short !i

Didn't know about Leedy Dreadnought's. What were the differences between them and the Alliance? Alliance tom shown above.
I have never heard of Leedy "Alliance" drums (?). The only WWII era Leedys that I am aware of are Dreadnoughts . It looks like those photos are from the Modern Drummer magazine article that I wrote.

When I got my set of BDP Leedy's, I just assumed they were the Leedy "Alliance" war time drums mentioned in "The Guide to Vintage Drums" by John Aldridge (pg. 128). I'm sure that you've done a lot more Leedy research than I have Cooper and if you've never heard of "Leedy Alliance", then I'm starting to question my sources. I'm sorry for hijacking your thread Fred but I guess now I should be asking the same question as you!

That is one book that I don't own. Is it possible that you mean "Reliance"? That was Leedy's lower line of drums. I am pretty certain that there were no Leedy WWII drums by the name of Alliance.
