Need Help Dating Slingerlands Last viewed: 1 day ago

I've been looking at Slingerland catalogs, it's looking like my drums may be older than I thought they were. I was told they were 1970. However, mine have the consolette style tom mount, which I could only find in the early 60s catalogs. It looked like by the late 60s, they had adopted the Set-O-Matic style.

What do you guys think? The sizes are 14x22, 9x13, and 14x14.

Hi Vercus, looks like a 60's kit to me.

The setomatic tom holder came in in 68, bass drum spurs look Pearl.

Floor tom leg holders are wing nut type not push button, dating them from 65 onwards. I'm no expert but I'd say you kit is between 65 and 67.

Cheers Stevo.

I think Stevo is probably correct with the time frame..

However whilst I have read elsewhere that the Push Button leg mounts were replaced with the wing nuts in 1965... They actually were still used around 1967-68 on certain models.

Cheers

John

Cool! Thanks for the info guys. These were my first drums. I've since bought bigger, louder sets that are great fun, but somehow I always come back to my Slingerlands. I'll never sell these drums, that's for sure.

It came with two snares, one of which dates from around 70-72. It's a deep one, about 9 inches, give or take. I haven't had the hoops off to measure it. The other snare is the wierd mutt one I have a thread open about.

Are those white sparkle pearl? If so a very nice color. Are the interiors painted (milkshake) or natural?

They are white sparkle, but it was redone. The original wrap had failed and the previous owner removed it and painted them. The snare is original though.

The insides are natural.
