Need advice on shipping a drum set

Loading...

I had my Pearl set on ebay for months now, and when I checked my ebay, I see someone bought it last night, so here is the question. I'm in chicago, the buyer is in FL, it's a stainlesss steel set and its really heavy, I plugged in $200 for shipping, not sure if that was high or low? I never shipped an entire set before? first off, lets see if the guy pays, (only has 5 stars) assuming he does, where do I get boxes? do you guys take off the hoops on put drum inside each other ? any help appreciated, I hear many of you selling sets to members all the time, whats the secret in shipping?

200 should be more that enough ! you should use UPS ground and purchase shipping through pay/pal. You need dimensions and weight . Most times i put some other drum (like snare) inside bass drum. The least amount of boxes the better as long as u keep each box under 70 lbs.Check behind shopping malls for free boxes and packing. you would be surprised what you can find for free.Or even furniture store for the bass drum.Otherwise home depot / lowes has boxes. Print label out online and drop off at nearest UPS Depot.

Yup. That was all good advice. I cut down dryer/washer boxes. Nest them with bubble wrap. Send several packages. My Leedy four piece too three, two large and one flatter. Find someone with a small business account at UPS or FedEx, they get big discounts. Mine would have been over $230, but father in law had account, so $78.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Uhaul has like a 24 x24 x 20 or something that may work dependin on the dimesnions. I'd get two boxes to double everything up.

That stinks, Im sorry to hear it. Why do some adults think its OK for kids to play with computers on the internet, and aown cell phones?

This is why I have so many drums, I dont want the hassle of searching for boxes, packing them, taking them to UPS or whatever. I dont mind Craigs list but that is still a gamble. I would however go through the shipping hassle for a good friend on this forum.

Hope you have better luck next time!

I would give it to a packing and shipping store , let them pack it for you I shipped a set few years ago and it got there damaged. Since I have been using packing company's it's safer.
