Natural Maple wood 1979 , double bass ludwig Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Hi guys .

my name is Janssen .i am from Australia ..i have a 1979 vintage Ludwig .classic series kit ,,that seems to be a hybrid kit of carmine Appice and John Bonham - 2 times- 24 inch kicks , 14 inch and 15 inch toms and a 18 inch floor tom with 6 and half Supra phonic snare . the toms are seperately mounted on each bass drum on a neck going into the bass drum..blue and green badges ,,all natural yellow maple wood ..no wraps !! 6ply ..

This kit, is the only one i know of in Australia! ..it is in good condition , but age wise ,,theres a few nicks n scratches on the wood toms and bass drum .

but seems to add to the character of this vintage classic ..it truely is a slice of Luddy history ..the shells are round and bearing edges are fine .one or 2 lugs may

need replacing..

Its just sitting in garage now ..as i am hearing impaired , i am deaf from natural causes and loud hard rock abuse - I want to pass the baton on to some one who appreciates this kind of kit - full stop !

This kit is stadium thunder personified !!

Was bought in 1980 for US $5000..I dont think it has lost its value despite its age !! ...........................................................................................

Any potential guys interested . $5000 is my starting price ..plus, pay for all shipping and packaging etc from Australia -any one interested ?..reply me ..this kit is the real classic deal !

All decent offers considered !

cheers and rock hard -Happy new years 2012 from down under Australia - Janssen .band3

I think a lot of potential buyers will become hearing impaired upon hearing that price. LOL! It's a buyers market right now & here in the US, guys are walking away smiling if they get $1500 for similar setups.

Just my 2 cents!

In Aus and New Zealand ludwigs are pretty thin on the ground so try Aus ebay – you'd have a better chance of getting what your asking there than expecting someone offshore to pay shipping for a kit so large. That kind of 6ply kit would sell for around $1200 in the US...

yeah ,,thanx supraphonic ..

America and Europe has a bigger population per capita ,then Australia and new zealand ..there for .this increases the chances from someone over in the states and beyond ,,who mite want this type of vintage kit ,

Some people are not bound by location or country in terms of purchasing what they really want or paying for over sea's shipping, guys sell like this all the time.

.so i am just putting a feeler out to all the drum buddies here. if i dont get many interested replies .I will certainly take your advice supraphonic.in terms of Aussie Ebay.

cheers and merry back beating ..

I guess thats your perceptions in terms of price ..The kit is vintage and is a collectors item and a collecters item, is a collectors item..One mans treasure is another mans trash .

I can hang on to them, ive had them over 30 years ..i know what i paid for them ..they were the top line Ludwigs .at $5000 in 1980 .that was a huge amount then.. I am only putting a feeler out .

I guess, i gotta accept that this type of kit .mite be still common in the states ..in terms of all natural maple, that is aged to perfection !

They wont get hearing impaired by the price.. ..but the kit will send em deaf

America and Europe is a large area and i am just putting a feeler out ,to all the drum buddies on here ..

thanx for your 2cents worth Fungus amungus and cheers to you

.happy drumming and watch those ear drums !

Try Andrew@ Drumpalace 61398489050 or Atlargemusic store or Gumtree /Trading post.Fee/preybay you'd pay far&way too many fees to those parasites/theives not to mention "tyre kickers/wood ducks".

You could try to break the kit down &sell them individually.

Thanx for your input mate ..really appreciated ..mite try drum palace or ebay .

or just hold back..i would swap these for a Tama Art star kit- Birch/ Cordia.

its a true vintage ,,needs a new home .i know what there worth ..i am prepared to be reasonable in terms of a fair price,I wont budge below 3,500 and is bottem line..This kit ,is the only one i know of in Australia .

Where you from Mate ..are you close to wollongong ?

Just putting a feeler out ..photoes would help ,but none here..deep yellow, natural wood colour ..blue 'green badges . Its a real Carmine Appice / Bonham kit ,70's stadium ...must be some dudes out there ,that want this type of collectors item .a few dings and scratches ,otherwise ,adds to the character of the kit

I am sure someone would love this kit ..

cheers to you mate .if your not far away ..feel free to come and have a look and have a few beers together ..if your in another state ..then my apologies.

Happy new years Mate from Janssen ..
