Mystery antique snare (calf heads, tube lugs..) Last viewed: 1 day ago

I'm having a chance to grab an antique snare, the seller is asking around 160usd but I think he's open to offfers.

These are the only pictures I've got. Any idea of the brand? US / European made? Diameter from bearing to bearing is 13,78 inches (35cm) according the seller. Calf heads on both sides and wood hoops with clips.

It's a famous soviet orchestral snare -- long-liver from 50's to 80's... :)

It was manufactored on two factories - in Leningrad (now St.-Peterburg) by Lunacharsky plant and in Engels town by EPOIMI plant.

This one is from Leningrad. Rare bird to meet it now in Russia.

Cheers,

George.

Thanks for replies! Soviet drums are actually very common here in Finland - just haven't seen this type of orchestral snare before.

It turned out that the seller had already promised the snare for someone else so no luck this time. The price was also maybe a bit high for Soviet drum.
