My New Old Ludwigs Last viewed: 4 hours ago

I just stumbled upon this 1943/4 Ludwig Victory kit. The former owner apparently took very good care of these. As you can see, there's a minimum of yellowing, and apart from a few scrapes on the hoops and a small mark (cigarette burn perhaps?) on the top of the kick, it's pretty much a museum piece. I've seen photos, and a handful of kits in person, and these are among the cleanest out there.

Sizes are 14x26, 7x11, 13x15 and 7x14 snare. The small tom is mahogany inside, floor tom is maple, and the snare and bass drum are painted white but are smooth, so I assume they're also maple. Dates range from Sept 1943 to July 1944.

They sit proudly in the living room, even my wife agreed that they need to be on display!

That is an amazing find. It appears as if it was ordered and built within the decade. There's almost no wear on it. How in the heck did the original owner keep those so nice and clean for all these years? Unbelievable. Great fortune, Jon.

The only time I'd ever "stumble across" a kit like this would be in one of my better dreams! Flat out STUNNING! Thanks so much for sharing.

I'm amazed that whoever was the prior owner of this immaculate kit would even consider selling it but CONGRATS on this magnificent find! I had to chuckle because although the kit seems to have received minimal use, the cowbell appears to be heavily taped. Obviously a disciple of "More Cowbell!"
