Hate to break the news..but..someone DID paint them..that's why the date stamp is so faint...It's African Mahogony under that paint..They must have taken all the parts off first...I found a 1970's 16 by 18 Premier FT the other day,and that was painted black over the African M.Bummmer......
Yes it appears that at some point, long ago someone decided to "freshen up" the interiors with some whilt paint. But then again the "new paint" is not on the lug screws and it is not on the shell underneath where the washers were.
I dont really matter to me, if it effects the value then big whoop, I am keeping them. And If I do decide to sell all I need is 300.00 to break even. The only concern would be sound quality but Im pretty sure they will still sound half way good. And Im not 100% sure they have been painted. If they did then they must have removed the groments, no paint on them and no signs of masking tape.
Because its African Mahogany should there have never been whit paint? Did they only paint maple shells? But like I say, I dont really care either way.
