My Lang Percussion Drum Last viewed: 1 day ago

I posted a thread a while back looking for some paint for my drum/

I'm having Morris (Arnie) Lang build me one of his fine LangPercussion drums. Mine is going to be as close as you can get to the Gretsch/Gladstone buildout.

It will be the first 7" (7x14) three ply drum built by Arnie.

He sent these photos today. I wanted it to be close to Cadillac Green - but I like the lighter green over the bluish-shade that you sometimes see. This is the colour I chose in the end.

I won't post anymore seperate threads regarding this drum (promise) - I will keep the Thread up-to-date for those that might be interested in how this drum turns out.

These photo file sizes are small. I've asked Arnie to send some larger photos.

Mark - I did see this video before but thanks for posting it.

Yes - I will be getting the nameplate. I want it as close the the Gladstone drums as possible. Billy Gladstone did make the different depth snares but I read where he was quoted as saying he thought the 7x14 was the best size ratio for sound. I don't know if I quote him exactly....but what I got out of it was that for sound he liked the 7x14 the best....for whatever reason.

I'm taking his word for that.

I'm having Arnie make me two nameplates - one will be for the drum and the other I will put on a very nice drum case.

I went with Gold Hardware...it wasn't really that much extra....they must not use a lot of gold. I'm thinking 1/2 oz or maybe less. My father-in-laws works a gold claim for a hobby and he says as a rule a level teaspoon of gold is an ounce.

Yikes !!!

My drum arrived via Canada Post today but I was at work and nobody was home to sign for it so it's gone back to the Post Office. From there they will deliver it to an outlet in a Mall close to where I live and I should be able to pick it up Monday after work......

It's been 8 months and 20 days since I order it...........a few more days won't kill me.......I guess.

The funny thing is I rushed home from work on a short lunch break on the off chance I'd catch the Postman.....I tried to time it right because I know roughly when the mail is delivered. I've been tracking it on-line and I saw where it was at our post office today.....that meant it was out for delivery today................I missed the delivery by seconds I think. I opened the door picked up the delivery notice - it said attempt delivery at 12:10....my watch said 12:10......we just missed each other. Karma hu haha.

The drum about to leave Arnie's Studio in Brooklyn New York Feb 21.
