My Friend John Last viewed: 10 minutes ago

This is not drum related, but my dear friend John passed away last June and I just found out about it after checking facebook. I've known John since childhood, we grew up in Houston and when I moved to San Antonio in the 80's, I would go to Houston to see my parents and John and I would hang out drinking bourbon & coke and singing Beatle songs with John on guitar. I lost touch with him in the late 90's and then made contact through facebook a few years ago. I hadn't heard from him in awhile so I checked his page only to find out he had passed away, he was only 55, two years younger than me. I miss and love you John, take care my friend, I know God will.

Here we are in the mid 80's clowning around.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I find as we get older, having younger friends pass away before us is especially moving. Sorry about your friend. Let his family know people they will never meet are thinking kindly about them right now.

Thanks guys, I just found out from his sister that John basically drank himself to death. We both drank in the old days, but when I got married I pretty much quit, apparently John did not.
