Calling any Kent experts. I picked this up with an MIJ Sorento kit (which may have its own thread later). Anyway, besides the horrendous bearing edges and liberal glue smeared all over inside, I'm excited to hear how this 9x13 can sound. My question is, the mount: it looks identical to the MIJ mount on the Sorento, and this drum had obviously been the added 13" tom to make the original 4 pc a 5 pc. There was an added Ludwig rail mount with clip for it (in addition to the MIJ already in place), and the rail had been flipped to the middle of the bass drum to make mounting more convenient. BUT, there is no sign of any other mounting holes inside of the Kent. So, is this a mount that would come on a Kent, or did they come without any (and this was added)???
My first Kent with coffin lugs
That's a cool drum. Those coffin lugs are very different for sure!! 60's vintage on those? And hard to find I've heard. Nice!
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Mookie, that is indeed the original tom mount. I have a complete 5 piece Kent "coffin lug" in WMP. Not your typical Kents. Rich.
Wow, fantastic to hear it's the right mount. Drum is date-stamped "APR 18 1968". I wish I had more to match, but it is indeed my only Kent to date. It was tucked between a bunch of MIJ drums in a CL ad with what turned out to be the Sorento's, and I took a gamble on driving an hour out of town to get them all (cheap). Turned out to be the right bet. I knew those lugs were rare and desirable. Anyway, I plan to dress the bearing the edges (which even have loose wood present on the bottom) and check out the sound. Any advice?
I have this 60's (blue foil badged) tom and I believe this is to be the Factory tom mount for it.
I'm going to agree that it's the factory-installed mount, just like the factory-installed MIJ muffler. Those are so rare, even orphans are rare. They certainly didn't worry about the glue mess...
Yes - the glue! It was messy in my drum too. I was told that was not unusual to find messy glue applications in these drums. My lugs were not lined up correctly. I fixed that by having to round-file the lug holes bugger (horizontally) and put some larger washers behind the lug screws. It did the trick.
I like the RED drum.
I can't see the lugs that are on your drum on any of these Kent drums.
Yes, the coffin-lugs are well known of, but not shown on the Coopers page. They're real though. I did notice that the Sorento mount (that is almost identical to the one on the Kent) is stamped "Made in Japan" and the Kent mount is not stamped anything. But I was also baffled by where it is mounted- right under the badge. Never seen anything like that before. Weird. I'm sure I'll easily find all the other pieces to complete the set... Okay, maybe if I live to 150.

Yes, unfortunately, I didnt have any examples of the coffin lugs when I compiled the information on that web page.
