My Custom Vistalites Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Hey guys, just wanted to share with you my summer project. This is a custom Ludwig Vistalite kit that I put together, authentic vintage shells with various parts that I frankensteined to make it work. They sound as great as they look, finally a kit that feels truly like my own. I was playing a pearl forum kit before this :P

I took these pics at a my band's cd release rehearsal, so we had our lighting and everything setup. Made for some cool shots :)

Thanks guys, yeah I'm really happy with the colors I managed to find too, the red in the floor tom is incredibly rich. I put some black suede heads on which actually helps focus light even more. Plus the coated emperors really warm out the punchy-brightness of the acrylic shells.

Supro!...

Tommyp here, and I moderate our fine little vintage community! That said, you didn't post your pics in the wrong spot at all!... but when posting a pic/text in the "Drum Image Gallery", we request that there be only ONE PIC in your post, otherwise the other pics ALSO get installed in the picture header bar on the main menu/viewing page... so ... I moved your post over to the "Vintage Drums" catagory so that both your pics would be intact and seen by the membership. And of course they found 'em! There is also another way though...

You can choose your favorite pic and post it up in the "Drum Image Gallery", and then in a subsequent post, put up as many as four more. Your choice! Enjoy!!

Is it possible for those lightbulbs, that appear to be pretty tight to the shells, to cause damage to the shells? Not necessarily full blown melting but maybe permanent scars or discoloring?

Just figured I would mention/ask this.

have a wonderful evening

If they are low-wattage (<100 watts), then no. If it were me, I'd use LED's. But I wasn't asked.

I always light my Vistas from behind. I use two 150 watt par 38 cans. One to my left and my right that shine through the Vistas out into the audience. Makes them glow nicely without being too bright.
