From Gilnar

well, uh, don't do that?? Mind Blowi

Nah. I'm more attached to the idea of reducing my drum collection than keeping a drum I won't use anymore.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The only thing that I have an attachment to is a hand carved samba whistle that an old drum teacher brought me back from San Juan. Probably worth no more than $10 on the open market, but I'll never get rid of it...

All my dads drums have disappeared, but I still have his 20 and 18" A's from the 50's and also his hats from the same era, just can't ever sell those. he passed away a few months ago.

Rare Birds

Picked these two up from the original owner who custom ordered them from Slingerland in about 1971.

9" deep with bottom hoops 6" and 8". Rewraped. Old blue sparkle was shot.

I have a set of 1966 Slingerland Stage Band drums from Shelbyville that were bought new for me by my parents when I was about 14. (yeah, I'm am old f**t). They have been with me through many gigs and many parties. After I got my DW's, I hauled out the Slingys and restored and re-headed them with the intention of selling them. When I told my wife my plan, she said "Are you crazy? You can't get rid of those!" She's right. I couldn't bear to see them leave in someone elses trunk. We've been through too much together! Besides, there's nothing wrong with having more than one set of drums!

Probably my Paiste 2002 1980 22" ride cymbal. That's something I will keep until I pare down to my last drum kit. Sounds too good. And maybe my 60's orphan Slingerland set I rewraped. I can't seem to let go of anything hardly.
