MIJ or not Last viewed: 11 hours ago

Hello, gentlemen, i'm in a need for your wisdom regarding MIJ kits.

I've been looking for a restoration project for a while now, and just found a local listing for this:

It's supposedly Pearl stencil from the 70's, but before i decide to pull the trigger i need to know if that's the case. The tom mounting system doesn't seem to be Pearl style for that timeframe. Star maybe? If anyone has any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey bud, Nice to hear that you're planning on joining the vintage drum fold.

:-)

My guess would be Pearls, solely because of those diamond shaped lugs. But I'm certainly not the leading expert here, and I can't comment on the tom mount...

I don't think those are MIJ's at all. I'm guessing MIT despite the "diamond" looking lugs. Bootleg Tama tom mount and tom leg brackets, 10 lug bass drum- and did Pearl stencils have L-rod mounting systems in the 80's? I'd put my money on Hoshino as the builder.

It's not my first vintage kit for sure, just my first venture into MIJ stuff.

I think it`s some Tama thing:-), look at the Brackets, Tom Mount the lugs look like on an old Imperial, also the Bassdrumlegs! Maybe Hoshino like teverson-sr said!!!

I don`t think it´s Maxwin.Compare your link with the pictures of the Tom

Mount and the lugs!
