mid 70's slingerland gene krupa snare

I just purchased a slingerland 5 x 14 GK snare off Ebay. Just wondering if these snares were ever sold with cos hoops instead of cob? The one I received has chrome over steel hoops (the shell is brass). Just Wondering.

Yes they were. I have a mid to late 70's with COS hoops.

I don't understand why some of these chrome plated brass snares came with brass hoops and others with steel hoops?
