Ludwig Snare I.D. Help Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Newbie here,

I have a vintage Ludwig snare that measures approximately 14 1/2 by 4 1/2 on the outer rim.It has the Keystone badge w/serial number 191058 and is finished in gold metalflake .It has a Ludwig top head that reads Orchestra Batter as well as a Ludwig snare drum head on the bottom .The " lugs " ? that are attached to the side of the drum sit horizontal and it is an eight lug .The snare lever has an adjustment screw and a simple lever with a round tapered knob on it . I apologize as I have no way of taking a picture . Any clues as to what I have here and possible value ? It has some minor rust but appears it would clean up nicely. Thanks in advance .Help2

Sounds like you have a nice and very much searched for 14"x4" Ludwig Downbeat Snare drum... pictures would certainly help! The rust you talk about should come off easy...

If you wanna give it away, PM me... Coffee Break2 LOL

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Here are some pics I found of drums that look exactly like the one I have except the one I have is goldflake and looks like the pearluscent but the lever is the same kind as the natural finish picture and the " lugs " sitting sideways on the pearl one ..I believe it to have the original heads as well .I played drums when I was a kid and moved on to guitar .You guys would want to kill me if I told you where I found this and what I paid for it/LOL .Any idea as to value .I do believe it would easily clean up and as it sits unmolested it is a 9 out of ten .Thank you for your help .

Hi guys,

To start I want to apologize for a mistake .This snare is in Champagne finish, having said that since all of you were so helpful I wanted to give you a heads up that it is going on Ebay in the next day or so .The number stamp inside on the shell says Sept. 24, 1965. I will put it in as a $550. Buy It Now format.I hope it helps someone to complete their set .Thanks again for all your help .
