Ludwig Snare Heads Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

I am curious to see if anyone has any experience with Ludwig snare heads (new). If so, what was your feeling about them? The batter side is a medium coated LW3314. The snare side is a clear C1114. Both heads have the vintage Ludwig logo. Thanks very much in advance. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Brian, I have used both of them Ludwig heads aren't as thick as the remo or evans equivalent They are great heads the ludwigs are. their collars are not as big as remo or evans, But I still prefer Remo's more

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

The new Ludwig heads are very nice. The medium head is the same thickness as a Remo Diplomat. The Ludwig heavy head is the same thickness as the Remo Ambassador. Ludwig's snare side heads are very popular.

I really like Ludwig heads. I like the Ludwig snare side head better than any other. It is thinner and more sensitive.

I tend to install Ludwig heads on my vintage Ludwig drums...just for a bit of authenticity! While it is true that the Ludwig "Medium" is a Remo "Diplomat" weight, the Ludwig head has a slightly thicker coating, making it feel like an Ambassador. I requested coated Medium heads and clear Medium heads on my Maple Classic kit and they sound very good!

As to the snare-side head, the low collar makes it about the only head that will work on a Ludwig Super Sensitive snare drum. The mechanism needs that low collar to let the wires fully drop. Besides that, I really do like the head on many of my snare drums!
