Hello,

This is my first post.I recently was fortunate to find a Ludwig Keystone badge snare drum at a pawn shop super cheap. now the snare drum is dirty and ugly but I saw the treasure through it all. after doing some research I believe I have a 1960 through 1963 brass shell supra phonic snare drum.I am in need of a few tension rods but want to be sure I get the correct size as some on the drum R mix matched I will upload before pictures and upload later pictures once drum is restored I cleaned and shined one small section of the drum and I can tell it will turn out beautiful I would appreciate any information and help on locating the correct tension rods.

1967 super classic obp





once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I Appreciate the Welcome.Like I said I Feel Fortunate to find it especially @ a pawn shop where they tend to find the going price for most items. The snare drum was just so funky looking I guess it just slipped through the cracks as I purchased it for $35.00 out the door!

For that price I would make it a keeper , because you will never replace a mint one for under 1 k by much

You lucky dog! If you wanted to, you could flip that drum for $700+! Clean it up and keep it, play it. Gary is right, it's one of the best sounding snares in my arsenal. Every serious drummer should own one.

Thank You All So Much for your help & positive replies.I really did not know what it was when I found it because the price was $49.95 & I was hesitating so I talked them down; It seems I almost messed up.The drum is heavy (about 9 lbs.) The only things pitted somewhat are the Imperial Lug Casings, the rest of the drum and hoops just need a good cleaning and buff. I took some pics but the site won't let me upload because file too big; if I can figure out how to resize I will post some. These models really bring that much $$$?

Try the magnet on the rims if it sticks they are steel, if not they are brass. The badge does it have any serial numbers on it?

Any Idea how to adjust size of pictures to load some? The ones I have taken of the drum in the state I found it are too large.

I Appreciate the Direction: Just tried a magnet on the rims & the shell - No Stick. The magnet will stick to the Lug Casings & the old Tension Rods. No Serial # on Keystone Badge. The Plot Thickens...
