Ludwig Pioneer / Auditorium Question Last viewed: 1 day ago

Hey Luddy folks...got one for you:

I snagged this on ebay:

6.5 x 14

MAR 17 1964 stamp

White Int. Dark Blue Lacquer Ext.

Keystone, Baseball Bat, p-83, Steel Hoops, Pat. 2517124 wires

6 Nickel Lugs

Listing had it as an Auditorium, but didn't those only come with 8 lugs? Being 6, doesn't this make it a Pioneer? Or something else?

Haven't seen this paint color before either, but with the age on it it seems to be original.

Here's the ebay pics. I'll get some of my own up once I clean it up.

Anyway, sounds fat and fantastic. So happy with this.

yes, the auditoriums are 8 lug, basically 6.5 depth jazz festivals. your drum is a 6.5 pioneer. don't see too many of those after the wfl and ludwig transition badge days. they were called supreme concert models back then.

that should be a fine sounding drum! congrats!

Cool... Never saw a 6 lugger before.

I have the 8 lug model. Nice and deep, I bet that 6 lugger just wails.

Mine was that same solid blue laquer, the paint was all peeling so I sanded it and under the paint was 5A Birdseye maple. I just couldn't get the line out at the seam so I had to put wrap on it.
