I have misplaced the tap I need to clean out threads on a ludwig lug. I want to go out pick one up but want to confirm that the size is an 8-32.

I think it's 8-32...but to be sure try your local hardware store and see if a 8-32 screw fits...

Since I probably took all the Ludwig lugs not mounted from your stock, I checked an Imperial.

8-32.
