Ludwig Clubdates? Last viewed: 4 seconds ago

I saw this on Craigslist in L.A. Listed as a 1960 Vintage mint gold sparkle "Jazzette" (obviously not) with 20" - 12" - 15". Looks like a Clubdate to me. Question is, did Clubdates come with a 15" floor tom...and at $500, is it a deal? I don't think I'm going for it regardless, so here's the link if anyone's interested:

Looks like it might be a 14" floor tom. I'd take a look and think $500.00 is a good deal.

Looks like a good deal to me. Snag it before the "new" Club Dates find their way to your local drum store--I predict original Club Date prices will go up...

Without taking the time to look it up, I do think Ludwig had a 12x15 Club Date "floor tom" at one point (late 50s, early 60s), but that one looks like a 14x14. I've found (as many of you have as well) that LOTS of times people will measure wrong and come up with an odd measurement, and sometimes just make "typos."

Definately not a "Jazzette."

All of this said, $500 is well worth it. Could easily be resold for much more, just as it is (and this IS experience talking). I'd jump on it if it was in my working "area" -- but the trip or having it picked up and shipped to me isn't worth it (to me).

caddywampus -- you may well be right! And shucks, I've already sold all of the Club Dates I had... maybe I'll run across more before that happens!

thats a nice deal there. does look like a 14x14 though. they were doing 12x15's in the very early 60's. the 15's were usually with a 22 and a 13. here is a pic of my clubdates that are 22/13/15 to give you a size idea...

Hey, NICE kit! I'm glad you posted, 'cause I was pretty sure they had a 12x15 FT. I wonder why they didn't just go with a 16x16 in that configuration... maybe they just had an overage of 12x15 shells they needed to use up!?

Yeah, I saw that... and though I think $1300 a little high, it's not so high that it makes it one of those hard-to-believe-to-good-to-be-true "stories."

Who knows...

Nice kit at a great price.

All cleaned up and ready to date and it seems to be from the picture, its worth $1000 not $1300. A $500 CD kit is one that needs a clean up , bass hoops painted and all detailing. If you buy this one you save yourself 20-30 hours of labor. That's what adds the other $500 in value, your labor.

Yep, 14" floor tom.

seems like a great deal but - and I have been thinking this for a while - why are CL photos non expanding thumbnails? It seems odd to me that even if you take some nice shots of your goods buyers can't really see the photos properly.

Obviously being over here it doesn't affect me but i am curious.

I'm guessing they do that because they are promoting "local" deals and not online ones. I've had a couple of instances where I've inquired about CL postings less than 2 hours from me but as soon as the seller found out I wasn't "local" they refused to even give me more info... I guess since I wasn't right in their town they thought I was some sort of online predator or boogie man or something...
