1. The year of manufacture, serial No 3111943.

2. Is the dapner original.

3. Is the tension rod in the pic Ludwig it has a lip around the top.

4. What sort of wood is it made of.

Badge indicates early to mid 80's, the dampener or muffler is original, the lugs on your snare are the Rocker II series, which might explain the different tension rod. The wood is up for grabs, according to Ludwig, its "select American wood veneers" I'm guessing some sort of poplar, mahogany mixture. The finish on the inside is called "Granitone" The curious thing to me is that the badge is on a snare drum series that had a completly different badge alltogether. Check to see if there is any damage around the inside of the shell by the badge, all in all it seems that either someone changed the badge, or you have a very early version of the Rocker series that they used a B/O badge on....

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Thanks for the reply

The badge is not sitting flat & there is a bit of indication on the inside by the granitone being chipped up in 2 small spots around the badge gromet. It looks suspicious, what sort of badge should it have & what breed of Ludwig & year would it be, thanks.

It probably should have the similar badge, but with black and white colors. That would be the Rocker series, entry level from mid-80's to 90's

the 84 ludwig catalog shows this same drum but with bowties lugs. there are several versions of these. i have seen them just like yours as well. have also seen them with the b/w badge. some of the later ones also have a clear wood interior that looks like maple. the 84 catalog shows them as an s/l series, something for less. they are listed as 4 ply shell layups.

i own a couple of these, one in a 5 inch depth and one in a 6.5 depth. they are great sounding drums. can usually be found for less than 100 bucks.
