Ludwig Butcher Block project Last viewed: 18 hours ago

I just wanted to share what I've been working on. I found the shells on eBay a month or so ago, cleaned up, hunted down parts, and had some work done by Sam Bacco. The t's and claws came in today so I thought I'd let you wonderful people enjoy it.

Thanks!

It's a 14x22. I have three 24's right now and wanted to get a little more compact.

I have the matching 12, 13, and 16 that will hopefully be done by the end of the week. We'll see.

Looks good, I've got a sheet of Ludwig BB wrap if you need any.

Very nice. Is the wrap laquered or something? Looks awfully shiny.

Was a butcher block snare available from Ludwig back in the day? I'm not sure I've ever seen one.

thanks.

Are those hoops stock? I can't tell if they're painted or stained. They're beautiful and blend so perfectly into the BB wrap.

It is a wrap - I've become good friends with a guy at Fork's Drum Closet and he's taught me everything I know about working with vintage drums.

The hoops were original to the kit. BUT they were in ROUGH condition so I re-lacquered them (I hated to do it).

Thanks for the love! I'm going to try to post pictures of the finished drums. VDF was freezing up while I was trying to upload earlier.

Here are the 12, 16, and 22" drums.
