Ludwig Acrolite

Loading...

Hey guys

I was just given a Ludwig Acrolite, it came from a school just north of town and the ladey worked for the school and said that the school was getting rid of old equipment so she brought it home for her kids to play with :(

Anyway She said the kids never play with it so she needed to get rid of it. However I'm going to have to replace the throw switch and take out some dents. The bottom head is fitting very tight so I need to know if that's normal.

SN# 2081850

anyone know what year?

yeah, I just have to replace the throw, looked like the music director was missing the bottom screw and tied a wire around the bottom and threw the bottom hole and tied it around the top screw to secure the throw on the snare.......eh So the throw is bent, I tried to make it as straight as I could but it's not the best.

The problem we face with vintage drums in schools is the fact that the funds were not always there to fix the drums like they should have been.

You have to find out what other treasures may be buried in that school storage room!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Oh I wish I could. There are a few schools I wish I could get a shopping spree from :) Like my old Jr High, the day I picked up my old marching snare there was a Rogers memri-loc big R snare stand setting there, I wish I could have got that. Plus the fact that there are three more late 50s ludwig marching snares and the marching bass drum setting up on the top cabnet.

Looks like an 80s model. I've seen a new replacement P85 throw off for around 20 bucks. I think it was at Guitar Center.com where I saw it.

Completely off topic question... but, how did you get your picture into your post like that?

Part 1: You will already have to have your photo uploaded somewhere like Photobucket.com

Part 2: On the toolbar of the text box when you go to post a reply or a thread. There is an icon that shows a yellow picture that looks like small mountains. Anyway select the little image icon in the toolbar, a window will pop up, you will need to copy and past the url of your photo that you uploaded and paste it in the text box of the pop up window. That should place the code to show your photo. You won't see it until you either preview or submit the message.

Do you know how many vintage "Rogers", "Pearl's", "Slingerland's" and "Ludwig's" are sitting in schools all over the United States? I don't know if a lot of Band directors know the gold mine they sit on these days while they or the school staff fret and worry about how they are going to raise money for the music program for the following year.
