There are a number of wrapped finished Jazzettes (see the Jazzette page on VDF). But I've never seen the spurs you describe on a Jazzette. Special orders were always a possibility. Is your bass drum a 12x18? I, too, would love to see pictures of your kit!

yes 18x12, 14x?, 12x?, + regular supra, and i picked up a 13x?, and 16x? toms to go with it. I think they are 69s but have the natural finish inside like the 68s and are silver sparkle but slightly yellowed more. I am working on finding the pics. and am about to post some pics of a few leedy drums in another thread. if I can figure out how... perhaps there are some instructions around here?
Ok I have some pics of the vintage numbers on the 4 drums. the snare is the only one that seems not close. How close do the serial numbers nee to be to prove they were sold as a set. I bought these as a set second had. they were owned by someone who died and left them with a friend. I will get some more photos up soon. here are the serials. thanks for nay help.
sorry the first line should read 'serial numbers' and the last line thanks for any help.
thanks again, Mbira

The 3 in the 600,000s are certainly close enough and the snare is some years earlier. That's about the level of precision I like to go with. There are even recorded discrepancies between date stamps and serial numbers of I believe 2 years (without looking it up) which shows how much uncertainty there is with individual drums.
That's not to say that there aren't strong statistical regularities when you look at large samples. Just that for one individual drum the accuracy of date prediction is not high. We know of a number of good reasons for that having to do with production processes of the day.
HI again, The 12in tom was redrilled. I wonder if anyone can tell what hardware it was drilled for? How much does this devalue the kit? I had forgotten that this was the case. The current hardware covers a center hole for a tube to slip into the drum. and there are 2 small bolt holes on either side. Does anyone know if Ludwig had tom arms like that at that time or later??? thanks,Mbira
thanks Zenstat, does that mean these drums could have been the configuration put together in the factory??

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. The three drums are certainly close enough to have been shipped from the factory to fill one order for a kit. The snare is probably an earlier one which has been added later. But a Supraphonic is the catalog correct snare for the Jazzette kit. Maybe somebody sold the rest of the kit and kept the Supra, and later on a different person brought a different Supra together with the kit.
About those holes...sounds like it might have been drilled for a Pearl (or similar) mount, but that's hard to say for sure without knowing the diameter of the hole. The Pearl pipe is 7/8" diameter, but the Pearl mount uses 3 screws as far as I can see (I'm looking at a couple in the next room). I don't think it would be a Ludwig mount. Something else...
Back when I recorded such things I saw a Silver Sparkle kit sold
Jazzette 12/14/18 recover silver sparkle repercussions has new L arm $1,499.00 14 eBay 6-Dec-05
and then possibly the same one a few years later
Jazzette 12/14/12x18 rewrap SS early ks 1969 rail (ex repurcussions?) $2,000.00 BIN eBay 25-Nov-09
But I can't say if they were the same kit. I thought they were from the photos at that time. That one (or two?) didn't go with a Supra either time. But it makes me wonder if yours shows any signs of being a rewrap?
thanks so much Zenstat!! this is all helpful. how would i know if it is a rewrap? I don't think it is from looking at it. it has some where. what sort of photos would you need to see to tell? -mbira
